Land Rover, San Rafael, Ca

Midstate Construction completed an addition and remodel to create a new 12,400 square foot auto dealership in San Rafael for Land Rover. The challenge in the construction of this project was highlighted by the need to build the new structure and addition around the 4,000 square foot existing brick structure. Due to potential soil settlement issues, the 8,400 square foot addition was placed on nearly three feet of special lightweight cellular fill. This addition contains a ten bay service department, as well as Land Rover's trademark cabin-like showroom. The showroom makes use of exposed beam trusses, tongue and groove decking, a ceramic tile compass rose, which accents the sales floor, and extensive wood cabinetry and millwork. The remodeled portion of the facility houses the parts storage and the general office areas. The Land Rover facility was build as a portion of the ShamrockRetain Center that also includes the nearby Staples and Comp/USA stores. The retail center was once the site of the old Shamrock Concrete Plant, which served the Marin County area for many years. Midstate has also built Sonnen Motors and Sonnen BMW dealership facilities in San Rafael.

Nut Tree Medical Arts Building, Vacaville, Ca

The three story, 30,000 square foot Nut Tree Medical Arts Center was built for Dr. Gary Stein, a general practitioner and his limited partnership, comprised of various specialists in the medical field. The building provides Class A medical office space to fill a market niche in Vacaville that had not previously been covered.

Petaluma Marina Business Center, Petaluma, Ca

Located at the Petaluma Marina, Office Building C, presented Midstate with unique construction challenges. The three story, 48,000 square foot building was supported by friction piles driven in bay mud. The steep embankment leading to the dock area required that all construction equipment maintain a thirty-foot distance from the top of the slope, necessitating a substantial reach for the piles at the water's edge. To protect the structural steel and metal deck system from corrosion, tnemic paint was applied to the underside of the first floor deck. Hardiplank siding was used to preserve the marine charm of the building while providing the needed resistivity to moisture. To meet the design and budget constraints of the project in the most efficient manner, the Owner, Marina Office Park Associates, contracted with Midstate on a Design and Construction basis. Midstate's pre-construction responsibilities included examining to virtually every building system for initial cost effectiveness as well as lasting quality.

The company, a dominant force in its field, manufactures precision fluidic devices for worldwide distribution to the analytical instrument industry. The building construction successfully combined components of pre-engineered steel and tilt-up to produce an aesthetic, cost effective solution to Rheodyne's operational requirements. AXIA Architects of Santa Rosa designed the new complex. Site selection and construction management was provided by Soiland Management Company of Santa Rosa.

Sonnen BMW, San Rafael, Ca

The building's structural elements include a sub-slab vapor monitoring system, a 1,500 cubic yard mat slab foundation system, masonry block walls, structural steel and wood framed floors and roof. The exterior of the building combines the use of plaster, aluminum column covers and fascia panels, as well as the extensive use of glass storefront that surrounds the dealership's showroom. The interior of the showroom incorporates tile flooring, aluminum fascia panels and an 18-foot high aluminum paneled ceiling, accented by two domed skylights. Tiburon Town Hall, Tiburon, Ca

The 7,300 square foot Tiburon Town Hall, a two story board and batten sided building with a clock tower, sits on a site framed by the bay and surrounding hills. The landscaping, trellises, and multi-colored precast pavers were designed to compliment the small town ambience of Tiburon. The new building allows the town's administrative offices, as well as the town council chambers, to be housed under one roof. Midstate also built the Belvedere-Tiburon Library, next to the Tiburon Town Hall site. Midstate has been involved in such other civic endeavors as the renovations of the Santa Rosa City hall and the Old Sausalito City Hall.
