Midstate Construction References

Over the last 85 years we have had the pleasure of working with some truly great companies and individuals.  We pride ourselves in creating and maintaining quality relationships with everyone we work with.  These relationships are our competitive advantage in a constantly changing and ever turbulent market. We are happy to provide additional Owner, Architect, Construction Manager and Sub Contractor references upon request.

The John Stewart Company

To Whom It May Concern:

For the past twenty years The John Stewart Company has been a client of Midstate Construction Corporation, utilizing their services on a variety of residential housing developments running the gamut from a new construction transit-based 135-unit East Bay project located next to a BART station, to substantial rehabilitation of affordable housing complexes in Mill Valley, Sacramento, and Marin City. Additionally, Midstate carried out an award winning adaptive reuse of the old Harkness (Southern Pacific) Hospital located in the Pan Handle section of San Francisco. In the latter project, Midstate was called upon to convert a circa 1911 power station into a two story townhouse configuration while complying with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation.

In all of the above work they demonstrated a unique skill set in achieving a thoughtful balance between good design and project cost. Particularly useful were the services they offered in value engineering, which entailed a line item by line item review of the working drawings and specifications in consultation with this Company, the design architect, and various engineers. Midstate is a first-rate firm that does what they say they’re going to do, on time and on budget.

Sincerely,

John K. Stewart, Chairman

City of Healdsburg

To Whom It May Concern:

I wanted to write this letter to express my appreciation for your exemplary efforts in managing the Healdsburg Family Housing affordable housing project on behalf of Midstate Construction. Despite rain delays and other factors, the sequencing and progress of this project has been remarkable. Your ability to anticipate issues and resolve them prior to them becoming a “big deal” and the effective management of your sub-contractors has made this project a resounding success.

The Healdsburg Family Housing project is a highly visible and important part of the City’s affordable housing inventory. Your efforts, ability and professionalism reflects positively on the City and Midstate construction.

Sincerely,

Scott Ward, CBO

Burbank Housing

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you for successfully building our Amorosa Village projects. This property, consisting of one hundred and fifty apartments, a community building, and infrastructure work is the largest project we’ve ever undertaken.  We entrusted the work to Midstate Construction.

Early in the pre-development period we faced the economic turmoil of 2008 and 2009. Our funding was in jeopardy. Midstate completely rebid the job to match the new funding package. We were put in the difficult position of starting the job in winter. Midstate overcame that with practical solutions. These challenges were handled with grace and understanding. Your company’s can-do attitude made a huge difference.

Midstate’s team pulled this job through under-budget and on-time.

Our residents will enjoy this well built housing for many decades to come.

With Gratitude,

Larry Boughton, Construction General Manager

Petaluma Health Center

To Whom It May Concern:

For the past six months Scott Honsvick, Superintendent with Midstate Construction Corp. has been very instrumental in managing Phase 1 of Petaluma Health Center’s new 42,000 square foot facility. His building knowledge and contractor coordination skills were confirmed leading to the successful completion of our OSHPD3 Medical Office Building project, Phase 1.

I thoroughly appreciate his professional demeanor, positive attitude and understanding of the important issues involved with our construction project. Especially, the sensitivity he demonstrated while working around our patients.

We have received many compliments about Scott from both staff and our board members. His problem-solving skills and customer relations practices are extraordinary.

I highly recommend Scott Honsvick for your construction project of any size and complexity.

Committee on the Shelterless

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my distinct pleasure to provide Midstate Construction Corp. with this letter of Reference.

Midstate and the committee on the Shelterless (COTS) worked together to design and build a three-story 22,000 Square foot homeless shelter and transitional housing facility in Petaluma, California.  The facility opened in November of 2004. More recently, Midstate built out the third floor of the facility for administrative offices.

Our relationship with Midstate has been excellent from the time of bid acceptance to the present. They have an extremely talented team of professionals that are knowledgeable about the design and permitting process, construction, inspections and other critical functions associated with putting up a large commercial building.  The staff is very easy to work with, accessible, responsive and friendly. And, their project management and site supervision is first class. They are very responsive on punch list and warranty items. Having said this, the facility has performed extremely well for us over the two and one half years since opening. Finally, they work extremely well with architects, city planning departments, subcontractors and others.

Sincerely,

Roger M. Kirkpatrick, Associate Executive Director

City of Calistoga

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is being written to you with the upmost appreciation for the diligent work and cooperative spirit that you demonstrated while supervising the construction of the Palisades Apartment project.  As City Officials, we are extremely aware of the time put into a project prior to construction. However, we sometimes forget or are often unaware of the trials that you the contractor deal with in the construction field and /or industry.  It has been an ongoing struggle for City personnel to ensure all documents, whether required by the City, County or State are satisfied during any given project.

This is why it is with sincere pleasure and admiration that we recognize your efforts on the Palisade’s Apartment project; to not only complete the construction portion of the project ahead of schedule, but to satisfy all governmental conditions within that same time frame effortlessly.

It is a pleasure to recommend you to your own company Midstate Construction, or provide references to future clients based on your outstanding performance and positive attitude.  We encourage and anticipate you to manage future projects in the City of Calistoga.

Sincerely,

Brad Cannon,  Building Official
