June 17th, 2003 - Midstate Recently Added Four To Their Staff

Mike Quesenbury, estimator, joins Midstate with experience in both estimating and project management primarily in public works projects. A graduate of the University of Washington and SSU's Construction Management Certificate Program, Mike is a valuable addition to Midstate's estimating team.
Scott Honsvick
, superintendent, brings 10 years experience in major construction projects including public works, office, industrial and multi-family residential projects. Scott is currently constructing Wilford Lane Village in Cotati.

June 10, 2003 - Midstate in the Top 100

Midstate recently placed within the top 100 largest Sonoma County companies in the "Sonoma County 350" based upon 2002 revenues. (Press Democrat, June 8, 2003, Sonoma County Outlook, pg 8). Good job Midstate and good luck in 2003.

June 6, 2003 - Awards

Midstate will be receiving Gold Nugget Merit Awards for two projects completed in 2002. The projects, Team Chevy in San Rafael and Hotel Healdsburg in Healdsburg will receive awards in the "Best Retail Project" category. With these awards, the projects are eligible for the coveted Gold Nugget Grand Award which will be announced on June 19th in San Francisco.

May 30, 2003 - Wilford Lane

Wilford Lane Village located in Cotati will be a 36 unit affordable housing apartment complex with a new city park. The 2.4 acre site will encompass a 31,892 square foot complex containing a series of smaller units offering studio apartments to 1,094 square foot three bedroom units, a toddler's playground and a community center that may offer classes and courses relevant to the community.

The park will feature a large open field, picnic benches and a surrounding paved pathway. Wilford Lane is scheduled for completion in February 2004.

May 30, 2003 - Safeway Progress

Midstate and Safeway continue their 50 year working relationship with the construction of the new Mendocino Marketplace in Santa Rosa, located at 2210 and 2300 Mendocino Avenue. This 88,404 square foot site will contain a 56,130 square foot Safeway Store and 10,400 square foot of retail shop buildings.

This substantial job began with the demolition of the existing Yardbird's store and site work. The Yardbird's store, which was originally a Safeway Store, site and retail shops had been operational since the early 1950's.

The new Safeway Store and the adjacent retail buildings, consisting of 7 retail units ranging from 1,100 to 2,101 square foot, will open to consumers upon completion of phase 1 in October 2003. Once the first phase is completed the demolition of the existing Safeway Store will commence.

The second retail building is still under design and is scheduled to begin after demolition of the existing Safeway with a completion date in 2004.

May 16, 2003 - Cotati Cohousing nearing phase completion.

Cotati Cohousing, located on Ross Street in Cotati will be a 30 unit residential community with many notable features. The two and a half acre site contains eight residential buildings with 37,663 square foot combined area. The residential buildings will have 30 housing units ranging from 900 to 1500 square feet with ample parking for all residents. The community's Common House will have a commercial kitchen and a great room for community use. In addition to this central Common House there will be a community garden, exercise building and accessible workshop. Commercial space will be available in the building that is on the Old Redwood Highway boundary. The project is expected to starting accepting residents in July of 2003 with project completion in September of 2003.

May 7, 2003 - Aldersly Project Progress

This photo shows what will soon be the North West wall of the garage level for the Aldersly Assisted Living Facility. The 24,534 square foot, two story community will provide 30 units of residence and parking for the elderly and individuals with special housing needs. Located at 326 Mission Ave. in San Rafael, the project is scheduled for completion in April of 2004.

March 26, 2003 - Midstate in the Top 5

Midstate was recently recognized as the second largest commercial general contractor based on total project revenue and company wide revenue for the year 2002. (North Bay Business Journal March 24, 2003 pg c-7/15) Midstate has also been recognized as one of the top 100 North Bay businesses in North Bay Biz's 2003 "NorthBay 500" list. Congratulations Midstate and good luck in 2003.

February 26, 2003 - Alliance Medical Center Milestone

Under the supervision of Superintendent Vic Zimmerman, Midstate Construction began pouring the slab for Alliance Medical Center located at 1381 University Street in Healdsburg.

Alliance Medical Center, a two story, 20,012 square foot medical office building will have a meeting room for the community to utilize. Structural steel will begin next week with a project completion date scheduled in November.

February 14, 2003 - MIDSTATE MAKES CHANGES!

Roger Nelson, President of Petaluma based Midstate Construction, announced staffing changes in the management of the company.

Vice Presidents Patrick Draeger and Wesley E. Barry, II have both been elected to the Board of Directors.

Monica Walton has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing and Business Development.

January 31, 2003 - Midstate Celebrates Safeway St. Helena #2605 Grand Opening

Safeway #2605 in St. Helena, CA was officially opened to the public January 31st 2003. The project was completed in 367 days under direction of Greg Harp, Superintendent for Midstate Construction. The store's notable features include a striking exterior composed of impressive natural stonework coupled with pre-cast concrete columns. During the remodel of the existing 20,157 square foot store, Midstate constructed an additional 10.637 square feet to the store. The new store now totals 31,094 square feet. Despite the ambitious scope of this remodel, precise coordination and preplanning enabled the store to remain open to the public during construction.
