PETALUMA, California (November 17, 2010) – General Contractor Midstate Construction Corporation has transferred two employees and promoted a third from within the company.
Eddy Deniz was transferred to the project management team and will streamline project management tasks on site at the recently awarded Petaluma Health Center. Eddy is a graduate of the Construction Management Program at California State University – Sacramento and has proven to be a great asset to Midstate Construction Corporation.
Benjamin Honsvick was transferred to the project management team on-site at The Meritage Resort and Spa, a new $40 million hotel expansion in Napa. Benjamin Honsvick has been with Midstate Construction Corporation for several years, following his successful internship while completing the Construction Management Program at Brigham Young University – Idaho.
Eric Bostrom was promoted to Senior Systems Administrator, furthering his role as information technology specialist within Midstate Construction Corporation.
PETALUMA, California (November 10, 2010) – General Contractor Midstate Construction Corporation received certificate of substantial completion for Stantec Tenant Improvement located in the Redwood Business Center, Petaluma for developer Redwood Business Center LLC c/o Basin Street Properties.
Designed by Stantec Architecture, Inc., this 10,600 square foot tenant improvement occupies one half of the second story at 1383 North McDowell Boulevard in the Redwood Business Park. Work performed includes demolition of non-load-bearing walls, creation of office suites, kitchen, conference room and large area for multiple workstations. Conference room, reception area and kitchen all feature polished stained concrete. Lighting features are a combination of LED diffused feature spots, and sustainable fluorescent housings, designed by Fine Lite.
Midstate Construction Corporation successfully completed this striking office build-out on time and within budget. In response to the market, we made a managerial decision to branch out with a tenant improvement team to perform various types of tenant improvement projects. We have assembled a talented group of superintendents and project managers proficient at tenant improvement and specialty build-outs.
NAPA, California (November 10, 2010) – General Contractor Midstate Construction Corporation, The Meritage Resort, LLC and developer Pacific Hospitality Group, LLC celebrated the groundbreaking and blessing ceremony for The Meritage Resort and Spa expansion project in Napa, California. The project is scheduled for completion Spring 2012.
The private event, held at the existing facilities of The Meritage Resort and Spa, included Napa city officials, prominent business leaders, investors, senior Meritage Resort and Spa management and staff involved in the development of the new 165 room hotel expansion. Following Mass, a “blessing of the land” ceremony was performed by Father Justin Ramos, O. Praem in the shadow of the Napa’s iconic grape-crusher statue. Pacific Hospitality Group founder, Tim Busch, then delivered a dedication and honored the land by pouring wine from the first bottling of the 2008 harvest, Trinitas, The Meritage Resort and Spa’s own wine label.
Napa Mayor Jill Techel was an honorary guest and spoke about the benefits provided by The Meritage Resort and Spa to the Napa area and local commerce. After the ceremony, guests were welcomed to a reception hosted by The Meritage Resort, LLC and Pacific Hospitality Group, LLC. The reception was held on the Vineyard Terrace that looks out onto the hillside that houses Spa Terra, the first spa located underground in a working wine cave.
With new construction and hospitality projects facing terminal postponement, The Meritage Resort and Spa proudly heralds the return of an industry hit hard by the economic faltering of 2008. Development of the $40 million hotel expansion represents a significant addition to the hospitality market and one of the few hospitality construction projects currently underway in California.
Designed by PK Architects of Tempe, Arizona, this new 131,300 square foot expansion will be constructed adjacent to the existing The Meritage Resort and Spa in the scenic wine country of Napa. The hotel expansion will contain an additional 165 guestrooms all with patios or balconies. Events, ceremonies and business functions will find a new home in the 12,500 square foot conference center housing a new ballroom, board room and covered terrace. Additional site amenities include an ultra lounge with luxury bowling lanes, café and retail shop, fitness center, surrounding piazzas and courtyards for outdoor events. David Bury & Co. Architects of Ojai, California, created the interior design for this luxury hotel resort.
ANTIOCH, California (November 13, 2010) – Owner City of Antioch and general contractor Midstate Construction Corporation celebrated the dedication ceremony for Antioch Community Center, a new community center project in Antioch.
Located adjacent to Prewett Aquatic Park, constructed by Midstate Construction Corporation in 1996 this single level, 35,700 square foot steel frame building houses a community center, library and police substation. The community center includes a gymnasium, community room, multi-purpose rooms, computer room, childcare facility, outdoor play area, administrative office and an amphitheater. Designed by Noll & Tam Architects of Berkeley, this feature-rich community center required nearly one and half years of adherence to strict project schedule in collaboration with construction management firm, Critical Solutions, Inc. of Antioch.
PETALUMA, California (November 8, 2010) – Owner Petaluma Health Center selected Midstate Construction Corporation as the general contractor (GC) for the Petaluma Health Center Tenant Improvement Project in Petaluma. Scheduled for completion May 2011.
Designed by DES Architects / Engineers of Redwood City, this 42,000 square foot OSHPD3 tenant improvement project is located on North McDowell Boulevard, in Petaluma. This community health center will provide economically accessible primary health care and mental health services to residents of the Petaluma area, Rohnert Park and Cotati. The facility will include dental, medical, laboratory, administration offices and a center for healthy living.
The portion of work performed by Midstate Construction Corporation includes ADA upgrades, new fascia, complete interior tenant improvements and significant mechanical, electrical and plumbing work. In an effort to achieve sustainability, energy efficient materials will be utilized including building insulation, windows and roofing.

Petaluma Health Center – The Petaluma Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides primary health care, dental and mental health services to residents of the Petaluma area. “Two years after being shelved amid worsening economic conditions, a more than $40 million expansion to The Meritage Resort & Spa is under construction as the outlook for the hospitality industry improves.
In October crews started preparing the area on the west side of the existing facility for construction of a three-story second hotel building and single-story conference center clustered around a piazza for outdoor dining and events. The Meritage will have 165 additional hotel rooms, 12,500 more square feet of indoor conference space, coffee shop, sports bar called Crush, bistro, six-lane bowling alley and 1,600-square-foot fitness center.
The Meritage Resort LLC put the expansion on hold in November 2008 as hotel managers industrywide were budgeting for a slowdown in business in 2009 as financial markets were reeling and the economy was contracting. The hotel saw its revenue per available room in 2009 fall 25 percent from 2008, according to General Manager Michael Palmer.”

GUERNEVILLE, California (November 5, 2010) – Developer Burbank Housing Development Corporation and general contractor Midstate Construction Corporation celebrated the groundbreaking event of Fife Creek Commons, a new affordable housing construction project in Guerneville. Scheduled for completion fall 2011.
Designed by Kellogg + Associates of Sebastopol, these nine, two-story structures on top of a raised podium totaling 42,500 square feet will provide 48 units of affordable housing. Each apartment varying from 600 square foot one-bedroom to 1,300 square foot three-bedroom is fully equipped with kitchen, domestic amenities, laundry and outdoor seating area. Additionally, the 1.7-acre site features a children’s playground and 1,700 square foot community center.

The h2hotel, an inn in northern Sonoma County that opened in July just down the street from its sister property, the Hotel Healdsburg, aims to provide a cool, stripped-down alternative to the flowery, fussbudget aesthetic that can dominate this part of Northern California wine country.

h2 hotel, Healdsburg – After completing this wonderful new hotel two months ahead of the projected contract completion date, contributing Midstate employees relax with a luxurious dinner at Spoonbar, headed by local chef Rudy Mihal.
h2 hotel, healdsburg - Midstate Construction recently completed h2 hotel, designed by David Baker + Partners Architects, for Owner h2 hotel, LLC. The project included ground-up construction of a 4-story, 32,000 square foot hotel with basement, containing 36 guest rooms, meeting facilities, restaurant, retail space and an expansion space for the Chamber of Commerce. The building is wood frame and a concrete podium separates the guest rooms from the public areas below. This project is designed as a LEED Gold project.
